Thrifty Friday Finds

I've been in serious need of some thrifting therapy recently so I decided to get out of the house and hit up an antique mall and a few thrift stores here around town today. I've been on the hunt for some retro cereal themed decor for my kitchen now that I'm sacrificing getting rid of the pepper theme but anything colorful and retro would do nicely too. I figured I'd share some of the things I saw today.

At the antique mall...
where I would give an arm and a leg to buy some of the stuff there, but that's exactly what it would cost me to buy it.

This whole matching set was amazing.... there were so many pieces.

One of the many retro glassware sets there...

I heart Barbie doll clothes boxes. Reminds of the days of yore dressing up my Barbies.

Modern Danish Lamps...

Modern Chair...

This was labeled "Lamp Table"...

Lane Swivel Table.... this was really really cool...

But alas, I would have had to spend more than a grand if I wanted all of that and that's not going to happen. I will say that I did about fall over myself when I found this canister set and I just had to get them.

Sugar. Flour. Coffee. Tea.
LOVE.

These beauties are in great shape and all they need is a quick wipe down and a little tooth brush scrubbin' to the diamond handles on top. I've been on a hunt for great chrome canisters, not the plastic ones, and this was a major score for me.

After I left there I went to some of the thrift stores and there wasn't much around but a few odds and ends and this cool birdcage I'm gonna paint.

And then I got these chairs... for $10. Yup, all 4 at this little resale shop called TOCO Shop in Belleville, IL. They are all near perfect but the one on the right has a veneer issue that is easily fixable. Plus I'll recover the seats... I'm thinking bright orange or red for these. What do you guys think... any ideas? :)

Then for my last stop I ran over to Archiver's (scrap booking store) and picked out some items for a new piece of furniture I can't wait to get my hands on.

This steam punk kinda vintage stuff is going to look so cool on a piece I have. I'm getting the goose bumps because I'm so wanting to dig into it right now. ;)

So that was my Friday Finds...
maybe I'll get out of the house next Friday and find some other stuff and share it.

Have a great weekend everyone and see you back here next week!

  1. Nothing like some good thrifting therapy huh? I love the swivel table and the aqua blue canisters are very cool. Good for you! I would LOVE to have those.

  2. Yes, it was good times, very therapeutic! The table was really cool, just way too much $ wise. I grabbed one of the canisters and started to clean it tonight and I couldn't believe they look brand new on the inside. These were a total score all the way around! :)

  3. *drool* I SO miss the thrift stores out there! Virginia is better for that kind of shopping than Idaho was, but still no where near as awesome as the places in Missouri.

  8. I love the chairs! They remind me of an inspiration photo I tore out of a Cottage Living once where the top rectangular piece had been wrapped in a raffia like material. I'll see if I can find it. Orange or red would both be really cool

  10. Camille, if you find that picture I would love to see it!

Meagan, the cage is sitting on an old vanity that needs A LOT of work
(yes, it's in my basement, ha!). I'm to the point where I think a full restoration might be too time consuming so I'm considering busting up the two main pieces with drawers and making them two new pieces of furniture. As for TOCO.... it's on 825 West Main St. Just about a mile west of the big circle in the center of town.
